  1. What It Is / Role

    • A torque cam set (also called a “driver” or “cam”) is a CVT component that helps control how torque is transferred from the engine to the clutch.

    • In KOSO’s design, this set is optimized for performance: it changes how the clutch engages and responds under load / throttle.

  2. Material / Build Quality

    • Made from high-quality aluminum alloy, which is lighter than many stock torque driver / cam sets. This helps reduce the rotational mass of the CVT system.The lighter construction improves acceleration response because there's less inertia for the drive system to overcome.  

    • Performance Characteristics

    • Optimized Groove Angles: KOSO provides different groove (“groove angle”) settings — for example, a 50° groove (sporty shifting) or 48° groove (smoother, more like stock) for some models. 

    • Gear Ratio: With KOSO’s torque cam, the effective CVT ratio can change. For their aero/N‑MAX / Aerox‑type kit, KOSO lists a gear ratio of 3.7 vs “standard” 3.2.

    • Weight Reduction: KOSO’s cam set is about 1045 g, whereas the stock (standard) torque driver is 1340 g. That’s a reduction of ~295 g, which significantly lowers rotating mass. 

  3. Durability

    • Longer CVT Life: Because of optimized torque delivery and lower stress (when tuned correctly), other CVT components (belt, clutch shoes) may experience less harsh wear.

  5. Possible Drawbacks / Trade‑offs

    • If you go for a very “sporty” groove angle (e.g. 50°), the clutch engagement may be more aggressive and could lead to jerkier starts if not matched with the right belt / spring.

    • Less inertia (due to lighter weight) means less “flywheel effect” — at very low RPMs, the response might feel different or less smooth.

    • Installing a new torque cam set usually requires a CVT teardown; it’s not a plug‑and‑play like a bolt-on body part.

    • For full benefit, you might need to upgrade or re‑tune roller weights, contra (torque) spring, belt, etc.

    • Performance parts like this may increase wear on CVT belt/shoes if not matched correctly or regularly maintained.
