Malossi Clutch Springs

• Malossi clutch springs are pre-hardened carbon‑steel springs used in the clutch assembly of automatic / CVT scooters. 

• They are dynamically balanced (very precisely made) to ensure smooth operation.

• Their strength (stiffness) is color‑coded: different colours = different load / “hardness” / spring force. 

• They have a heat‑resistant paint on them (colours) so that they can handle high operating temperatures.

• Specific sets are designed for certain clutch types — for example, Malossi’s “Sport Springs” set is made for their Delta / Fly Clutch. 

• According to Malossi’s spec sheet, the springs are made from high‑carbon silicon-alloy steel and are heat-treated for durability. 

Performance / Purpose

• Change Engagement RPM: By using stiffer or softer clutch springs, you can shift at a different RPM, effectively tuning when the clutch “grabs.” 

• Better Power Transfer: A stronger spring helps clamp the clutch more firmly, reducing slippage under high load, which improves acceleration. 

• Tuning Flexibility: Because Malossi gives springs in different stiffness (via colour codes), you can tune the clutch behaviour depending on how modified your scooter is. 

• Durability: The material + heat treatment + coating help the springs last even under aggressive or high‑RPM use.Application-Specific: For example, in Malossi’s Multivar or torque-driver kits, they provide springs to match a “predefined optimum RPM attack point.”
